Do Christians retire

Back in 1963, Rob watched his parents serving at and remembers how involved they were at Eastside. His mom played the piano and taught Sunday school. Both his parents taught Jet Cadets, a junior high program. Growing up watching his parents impacted him and left a legacy of service.

Back in 1963 his mother, Barbara had just recently lost a friend to cancer. She was a young mother with serious health problems, and it made Barbara realize how short her own life is. This tragedy made her decide to start looking for a church. At that time, Eastside was meeting in a warehouse, and Rob’s parents started attending, and it completely changed their lives. Barbara jumped in and started volunteering in the children’s ministry and the women’s Ministry.  Then both Barbara and Bob started volunteering with the Jet Cadets.

This love is contagious and they wanted to share it with other people. It is amazing to see how from that time all the way up to now we live out, This is for everyone!

Being around people who love the Lord rubs off on you! Then this love is contagious and they wanted to share it with other people. There were times when it was tough to serve, they had to adapt to whoever came into the program and make sure they were meeting the students’ needs. It was really wonderful to see someone accept the Lord and, and then step out in faith. It is amazing to see how from that time all the way up to now we live out, This is for everyone!

Rob is proud to see his parents, who are now in their eighties, even though they could sit back and rest they are choosing to keep serving. They could easily rest on the past and relish what‘s been accomplished in our history yet instead they continue to be involved in service because they’re unfinished. They’re not done yet and Eastside is not done yet. God is not done with us until the Lord Jesus returns. And so until that time, they’re gonna continue serving as much as they can. And that legacy has been passed on to Rob as well. So Rob, just like his parents, volunteers in Kidsside, on the elder board, and in the guardian ministry. He continues that legacy today.
